Plankton are microorganisms which are at the bottom of the food chain in ocean marine life. They are essentially the building blocks of all life forms in marine life. Plastic pollution has affected the number of plankton as they are perceived as a source of life. Zooplankton have been found to consume plastic - essentially threatening all marine life as they are struggling for survival.
