BIRDS

The very toll of plastic pollution itself has taken a grave hit on birds, as a result it is said that 59 % of birds studied between 1962 - 2012 have found to have ingested plastic, this has dire consequences as many birds mistake for plastic as food- although they may be able to regulate their intake and sucessfully overcome this issues in certain circumstances, the consequence could be more significant to newborns as they are fed, which could fill up their digestive system having sderious health effects as there is littel room left to digest real food, sharp edges of plastic could kill birds and small newborns aloke as it oculd puncture the digestive system. approximetly 1 million sea birds die each year and an unkown amount of other types of birds and 100 000 marine mamals, this is drastic and of even greater consequence as ecosystems could become unbalanced causing displacement of species in their eco-chains and the extinction of many animals alike,

HOW LONG DOES PLASTIC LAST

Plastic can last for 1000 years to decompose, hence it could have many cycles in its lifetime disrupting more than one species and several thousands, this also means we dont have an alternative to wait it out, Oceans are filled with plastic and we are already facing the immense repercussion,
Air pollution and climate change

Climate change is sonething many activists consider as important, as something critical to the planet

Oceans surface are responsible for producing 80 % of worlds supply of oxygen through phtosynthesis of marine plants including plankton, and abosrbs about 25 % of world supply of carbon dioxide, as pollution is considered widely as something activists should be focusing on, it should be established that plastic pollution greatly influences air pollution,

DEAD ZONES

as a result of plastic pollution, there are currently 500 dead zones, which is an inhabitable area for marine life, which sums to about the size of the entire UK,

it is a significan issue, i hope that it is brought to the attention of climate activists and marine activists alike to understand the dire situation for marine life
and fishers as well as the climate alike

Update will soon occur on our website

Plastic waste

It may seem as if ocean pollution may be dismissive and to a certain degree overexagerated

HOW MUCH WASTE

However

approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution is disposed to the ocean surface,

Approximatetly 5.25 trillion pieces floating in the open ocean.

Significantly taking up large parts of the ocean surface area and by tonnage

It could also be approximated that every square mile of ocean has more than 45,000 approximate pieces of plastic floating in it.

That is massive, ocean is literally the 79 % of the world is the ocean

WASTE

If by perpetuall belief, you believe that landfills is capable of diverting the problem, you are not alone, about 79 % of all plastic waste is on land fills, however as situated near the ocean in many cases, most plastic from landfills ends up in the ocean, as a result ox poor infrastructure, whi h in one case the solution could be better land fills or grounded infrastructure

Where as only 9% is recycled, and 12% is destroyed

RECYCLING

300 million tons of plastic is newly produced every year, half pf which is used only once

Where as 8 million tonnes are dumped into the ocean, 150 million metric tonnes in our ocean remain, which could essengially clinge half of world yearlu supply alone, coupled land fill waste which account for 26.8 million tonnes, almost entirely clearing world supply of plastic alone,

However an additional 14 billion pounds of garbage, through cruise liners and cargo ships which

Website for ocean pollution is finally online,

The index page might be slightly bugged on computers, hence for the second link to create simpler acess

Norwegian and many international laws, rule air pollution restrictions on marine boats and ships, this results in ships and boats to release their pollution to the ocean to reduce their carbon footprint, although not plastic pollution it is greater significant to marine life, make a difference and sign in to change.org, to which several links and donaours are a d will be available
